Our Carbon Reduction Plan

At Bridge Creative, we are committed to taking action on climate change and reducing our environmental impact. This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines the steps we’ve taken so far, our current carbon footprint, and our future plans to lower emissions across our operations.

For the reporting period June 2024 to May 2025, our base of operations at The COSE produced the following emissions:

• Total emissions (Scopes 1, 2 & 3): 42 tCO₂e
   
• Per staff member (FTE): 2.65 tCO₂e
   
• Scope 1 & 2 emissions only: 4 tCO₂e
   
• Scope 3 emissions (e.g. travel, waste, supply chain): 38 tCO₂e
   

These figures were calculated using the UK Government’s official emission factors and the SmartCarbon™ calculator.

We've taken a number of practical steps to improve our energy efficiency and reduce emissions:

• ✅ Installed solar panels at The COSE (July 2024) to generate renewable energy on-site.
   
• ✅ Introduced a closely monitored heating schedule to cut down gas usage, following a review in late 2022.
   
• ✅ Ran staff and community awareness projects on energy saving, water reduction, and recycling.
   
• ✅ Organised community litter picks and replenished our living wall garden to support biodiversity and carbon absorption.
   
• ✅ Tracked and reported on our emissions in line with national best practice.
   

We recognise that a significant part of our footprint comes from travel:

• Business travel (by car, taxi, and bus): 8.57 tCO₂e
   
• Employee commuting: 28.77 tCO₂e
   

We are exploring ways to reduce this, including switching to electric vehicles and promoting greener travel options.

We’re not stopping here. Our next steps include:

• 🔋 Monitor the impact of our new solar panels and adjust usage accordingly.
   
• 🚐 Explore the purchase of an electric van or minibus to reduce transport emissions.
   
• ♻️ Continue to improve on-site recycling and minimise waste to landfill, using recycled materials in 100% of our design and build projects for events and festivals.
   
• 🪴 Maintain and expand green spaces at The COSE to support carbon capture and wellbeing.
   
• 📈 Review staff travel and commuting patterns to support low-carbon alternatives.
   
• 📦 Work towards reducing carbon across our Scope 3 emissions, particularly in procurement.

•  📅 Achieve Net Zero by May 2027.
   

We use the SmartCarbon™ calculator and follow the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and UK Government Environmental Reporting Guidelines to ensure our reporting is accurate and transparent.

We aim to publish updates annually and a full impact report every two years to track our progress and hold ourselves accountable.
